In honor of this week’s Heirloom Expo in Santa Rosa, CA, it felt appropriate to share some great heirlooms (and open-pollinated seeds) that you can grow this fall. If you haven’t started seeds already, there’s still time if you live in warm-winter climates or have a greenhouse in cooler climates. It’s a great time to sow root crops, brassicas, garlic, onions and salad greens. Here are Gardenerd’s picks for fall: Yellowstone and Cosmic Purple Carrots. Vertus Savoy Cabbage, Purple Plum Radishes, Calabrese Broccoli and True Siberian Kale.
