Gardenerd on Good Food

And now for a moment of shameless self-promotion…

For those who missed it, I was a guest on 89.9 KCRW’s Good Food with Evan Kleiman on June 1, 2013.  It was a dream come true to sit across from Evan and chat about gardening and soil testing.

There was more to the interview than what aired, of course, including a moment where I revealed that I’d never baked a fruit pie because my mother is so good at it, there’s no need. Evan told me to get over it and bake a pie. 🙂 We also talked about the award winning Tomato Cobbler and the fact that it’s so good even though we both love to hate Martha Stewart.

To hear all the juicy details about why soil testing is important, listen or download the podcast from the Good Food Blog. We also covered raised beds, and how to protect your garden from tomato horn worms.

You can also read a bonus blog post, the Edible Garden Profile where I answered seven questions posed by Good Food producer, Gillian Ferguson, about building raised beds, planning the garden, and using drip irrigation.
